TYPES OF COURSES OFFERD
Residential Courses:
(A) Short courses for personnel from Voluntary Agencies,
Government and Industry - requests sent at least six months in advance.
(A-1) Certificate course in Psychological
Counselling (4 weeks) for Fresh Graduates and Post Graduates
with no field experience.
(B) Post Graduate Certificate Course in Psychological
Counselling (2 Months) for persons who will utilize the training as
an adjunct to their essential work as Educators, Administrators, Social
Workers, etc. This course is residential.
Some of the Objectives of couse 'B'
- Basic understanding and skill in community building
and social change
- Basic understanding of personality and interpersonal
relationships
- Basic understanding and skill in crisis counselling
and growth counselling.
- Esperiences of personal growth through counselling.
- Sponsorship by any organisation that will utilise
your learning is required.
Other Courses for those wishing to develop professional
competence in counselling
(Full time or Part time basis)
(C) Post Graduate Diploma Course in Psychological Counselling
(one year) for Post-Graduates.
(D) P. G. Diploma course for graduates
Objectives of one year course in Psychological
Counselling:
Mastery of Professional skills in counselling
of which 75% practical orientation and 25% theoretical integration.
(E) Post Graduate Course in Phsychological Counsellor Education
(Two Years)
Objectives of two years course in Psychological
Counselling:
Developing professional skills,
Supervision in Counsellor Training.
(F) Fellow of the institute of Counselling and Psychotherapy
(F.I.C.P.)
Three year integrated Doctoral level course of International
Standard.
Objectives of three years Integrated
Doctoral Level Course of International standard:
In addition to the above two a doctoral level
dissertation in an area of practical research in counselling.
Qualification Required
For C, E and F normally a Master's Degree in Psychology
or related subject and Post Graduate Certificate in Psychological Counselling
and sponsorship where they work are prerequisites.For D, a Degree from
a recognised university or a Degree in Theology.
Non - Residential Courses:
Post-Graduate Diploma Course in
Psychological Counselling Distance Education Program
Duration:
The course requirements should be completed within two years. Courses
will commence during January and June every year.
Minimum Academic qualification and prerequisite for Admission:
a) Post-graduate degree in behavioural sciences or in a related subject
(Psychology / Social Work / Sociology / Pastoral Counselling) or a Bachelor's
Degree having two year's experience in areas related in Counselling will
also be considered for admission.
b) The Eight week Post Graduate Certificate Course in Psychological Counselling
of the CCC.
c) If 'b' is not met, it is possible to be admitted on condition of fulfilling
that during the first year of their study.
All the above mentioned courses are conducted in English.
